Oprah to End Her Show in 2011

In another blow to the struggling business of network television, Oprah Winfrey is expected to announce on her program today that she will step down from her syndicated afternoon talk show, which over the last two decades has transformed her into one of the richest and most influential forces in popular culture.
Although she has kept mum about her plans, Winfrey, 55, is expected to furnish a new show to OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network, the long-delayed cable outlet she is starting in partnership with Discovery Communications. The network is scheduled to roll out in 2011 in about 75 million U.S. homes.

The media personality and mogul — whose show has served as the main pedestal from which she has engaged newsmakers high and low, transformed obscure products and personalities into runaway successes, and preached a gospel of self-empowerment to her devoted, largely female audience — is betting that, in a world of ever-fragmenting audiences, the future lies with creating her own branded network. She was recently ranked No. 234 on a Forbes list of the world’s richest people, with an estimated net worth of $2.7 billion.
Although Winfrey could not be reached for comment, Tim Bennett, the president of Winfrey’s Chicago-based production company, Harpo Inc., confirmed in an e-mail Thursday to station partners that she would end the existing program Sept. 9, 2011.

“Oprah’s personal comments about this on tomorrow’s live show will mark an historic television moment that we will all be talking about for years to come,” Bennett wrote.

Financial pain

Meanwhile, CBS and Walt Disney Co.’s ABC are expected to bear the brunt of the financial pain ushered in by Winfrey’s departure. CBS, which acquired Winfrey’s original syndicator, King World, for $2.5 billion 10 years ago, has taken in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue over the years from “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

ABC carries the show on many of its stations, including its owned-and-operated outlets KABC-TV in Los Angeles and WABC-TV in New York. The show, which has aired in late afternoon on most stations across the country, can be counted on to deliver big audiences for the local newscasts that usually followed it.
“She uniquely remains appointment television,” Bill Carroll, vice president at New York-based Katz Television Group, which advises local stations on programming and other issues, said earlier this week when the Winfrey development was rumored but not confirmed. “When she came on and established herself, it was a sea change in the industry, and when she leaves it will be a sea change.”

Winfrey, however, now confronts a broadcast medium that is scarcely recognizable compared with the one that greeted her Sept. 8, 1986, when she took her local Chicago talk show into national syndication. Broadcast ratings have plummeted in recent years as viewers have fled to cable and online programming.
Although “Oprah Winfrey” is still the top-rated syndicated talk show, its ratings have not been immune from the erosion. Station managers are finding themselves hard-pressed to continue making rich programming deals, even for “Oprah.”

Industry scuttlebutt had it that her rich license fees were going to drop as much as 50% in her next renewal deal. Some observers have pointed out — although not publicly, for fear of alienating someone who retains unrivaled power in the entertainment sphere — that Winfrey had little choice but to give up the syndicated show and bend her empire to new realities.

On the other hand, few expect her to go the way of Howard Stern, another once-potent broadcaster who gave up a huge platform for a new role — in Stern’s case, transferring his show from terrestrial to satellite radio — and wound up with a greatly diminished profile.

“She’s not going to die the death of a thousand paper cuts,” said one broadcast executive. “She’s too smart for that.”

Indeed, Winfrey’s power to shape culture is undimmed, as evidenced by her recent record. She began this week with a headline-grabbing interview with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who was promoting her bestselling memoir, “Going Rogue.” A movie she helped produce, “Precious,” the story of a young black woman in Harlem who overcomes a legacy of obesity and abuse, is an early favorite for Oscar consideration.

Raised on a pig farm

By her own account, Winfrey was herself the victim of abuse, growing up impoverished on a pig farm in Mississippi, and has struggled with weight issues her entire life. That story has served as a lasting wellspring for her cultural appeal.

And long after she leaves broadcast TV, Winfrey’s fingerprints will remain on the medium, with her disciples (and former regular guests) Phil McGraw and Dr. Mehmet Oz hosting their own hit shows thanks to her support, and another follower, interior designer Nate Berkus, preparing his own syndicated show for national rollout next year.

Her book club has minted reliable brands out of previously unknown authors such as Wally Lamb and — controversially — James Frey, while bringing mainstream attention and blockbuster sales figures to literary writers such as Toni Morrison and Cormac McCarthy. Winfrey’s enthusiastic sponsorship turned “The Secret,” a 2006 self-help book by Rhonda Byrne that was treated skeptically by many critics, into a multimedia phenomenon.
As one of the most successful African American women in U.S. history, her role in culture has been thoroughly debated. Her full-throated support of Barack Obama’s candidacy for president was a crucial way station on his path to the White House.

Winfrey’s shift from broadcast to cable may be viewed as a reflection of the power shift between the two media. Over the last two decades, cable has gone from a hodgepodge of channels that used to subsist on obscure sports and reruns to the home of high-quality original programming.

Cable networks have two revenue streams — subscription fees and advertising — while broadcast television still primarily relies on advertising. Cable networks are drivers at media conglomerates Viacom, News Corp. and Disney. Comcast’s talks to acquire control of NBC Universal from General Electric are being motivated by its desire to get its hands on their cable channels including USA and Bravo, not its NBC broadcast network or local TV stations.

Winfrey’s record with new ventures has been impressive, with a few stumbles along the way. She launched, for example, “O: The Oprah Magazine,” one of the most successful magazine start-ups in history.
But one of her rare missteps involved a foray into cable TV. She was an early backer of Oxygen, a cable network for women that was started by Geraldine Laybourne and television producer Marcy Carsey.
Winfrey was supposed to be very involved but never really got fully on board, and the network struggled to establish itself. Winfrey eventually scaled back her role in the channel, which is now owned by NBC Universal.

Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie debut bling

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a limited-edition collection of gold and silver snake jewelry and accessories called “The Protector” for high-end jeweler Asprey .

The couple have been working on the project for more than a year and their pieces will go on sale at Asprey stores in London, New York, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai this week, Women’s Wear Daily reports. Prices start at $525 for a silver baby spoon with a curving, serpent-shaped handle. Which, to us, sounds like it could be traumatizing to the child. But we digress . . .

Other items in the collection: an eggcup, tooth box and picture frame, as well as gold and diamond pendants and rings. All feature curving snakes. Jolie, 34, was given a ring in the shape of a snake while pregnant with Shiloh and considers the reptile a protector of her family. Proceeds from the sale of the collection go to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, co-founded by Jolie in 2006.

Nicole Kidman: Post-Baby Curves Helped Me Land Nine

What did Nicole Kidman find to be an expected plus to giving birth, besides the baby? Bigger breasts. “They’re not very big, my boobs, so they just became normal size. I loved it!” she tells the December/January issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. “I felt very Woman. When you’ve had a slightly androgynous body your whole life, having breasts is a nice feeling.”

Even more than that, Kidman, 42, jokes that her fuller bosom helped earn her a role in the upcoming musical Nine, starring Daniel Day-Lewis.

“[I had] big boobs because I was breast feeding – I was perfect for it,” she tells Entertainment Tonight Canada. “I wouldn’t get cast now.”

Not that she was champing at the bit to become a working mom again after baby Sunday Rose was born. But she says, she couldn’t resist the chance to work with Day-Lewis, director Rob Marshall and the rest of the star-studded cast.

“I was not looking to go back to work. I went back to work because this was … the perfect kind of scenario,” she tells ET Canada of Nine. “Part of me was nervous about going back to work … but they said I could bring my baby to the set, and Rob didn’t seem to find that a problem at all, so then I was like ‘Uh, this is heaven.’ “

Farrah Fawcett’s Will: $4.5M for Son, Nothing for Ryan O’Neal

Farrah Fawcett not only cut longtime lover Ryan O’Neal out of her will - she reportedly left a nice chunk of change to a secret ex-boyfriend.

According to RadarOnline.com, the “Charlie’s Angels” star, who died of cancer in June at age 62, left the bulk of her estate ($4.5 million) to her son Redmond, plus a half-million dollars each to her father and a nephew.

Surprisingly, the will is said to exclude O’Neal, who was at Fawcett’s side during her last days.
Fawcett instead reportedly bequeathed $100,000 to Greg Lott, a former Texas football player who has admitted to being the late actress’ secret lover.

Lott, who has accused O’Neal of preventing him from seeing Fawcett while she was dying, told the Sunday Express that “this news that I am indeed in her will and Ryan is not raises some serious questions about why he prevented me from seeing the love of my life in her final months.

“Farrah meant the world to me and I know that I equally had a profound impact on her.”
O’Neal, who co-produced a controversial television documentary about the ’70s icon’s final months, has described Lott as a “disgruntled ex-boyfriend from the sixties.”

Also left out of the will was Fawcett’s close friend Alana Hamilton, another co-producer of the documentary, as well as Craig Nevius, a film maker who says he was thrown off the project by O’Neal.

Radaronline.com, which obtained a copy of the will, also reports that the actress’ last wish to die at home was not granted. Fawcett died in a hospital in Santa Monica, California.

Jennifer Lopez titles album, premieres new single live Sunday

The wait is nearly over for Jennifer Lopez’s first single to be released from an album dubbed “Love ?”.
Titled “Louboutins,” Lopez’s new single will make its debut not on radio or online but at Sunday’s American Music Awards.

Joining a line up that includes Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys and more, Lopez will perform the new single before a live audience.
Speaking with 102.7 FM’s DJ Skee earlier this week, Lopez discussed the single and forthcoming performance.

“It’s basically about when you get to that point in a bad relationship and you’re like: ‘I really have to leave. It’s just not good for me’, ” said Lopez. “This song is actually about when you’ve made the decision-I’m out.”

While Lopez dismissed claims that the song was related to her current life and marriage (Marc Anthony), she did tell DJ Skee that she’s had to put on her Louboutins on and walk in the past.
“I’ve had to do it… sometimes you just gotta do it. You gotta put on your Louboutins and be like, ‘This is what you’re missing..”

Earlier this year, Lopez released a record titled “Fresh Out The Oven” featuring Pitbull under her nickname Lola. Contrary to reports calling the record a single, Lopez says it may not make the album but could be released as a bonus track.

Lopez’s forthcoming album, her first in nearly three years, is due for release early 2010.

Tila Ta-Kill-Ya

This is rare; celebrity domestic violence. You hardly ever hear about such this things…
Reality tart, Tila Tequila, finally has her lawsuit against ex-boyfriend NFL linebacker, Shawne Merriman under way. Last September Tequila filed a lawsuit against Merriman for battery and assault. According to TMZ, Tila claims Shawne grabbed her, shook her like a doll, and threw her down to start choking her during an argument.

We guess he was quite pissed about Tila’s public bi-sexuality. That can’t make for good locker room conversations.

In the lawsuit, Tila’s lawyer, Cyrus Nownejad, included a photos showing the disparity in height and weight (Tila — 4′11″, 93 lbs. Shawne — 6′4″, 280 lbs). The photos also show bruising on her arms, which Tila says is courtesy of Shawne.

Beef…Spence Pratt Style!

Still not exactly sure why, but this story makes for good blogging.
Due to a scheduling conflict on The Today Show, the interview betwixt Speidi (Spencer & Heidi) and Al Roker was cancelled. Of course being to the moncho man that we all know Spencer is, he did what any self-respecting man would do. He tweeted.

The barrage of insults spanned from his battling weight lose to his martial status to his children.
All for a cancelled interview?  And inquiring minds want to know, what the hell did you of all the interesting human beings in the world, have to discuss so badly on The Today’s Show?

Janet Jackson says Dr. Conrad Murray is responsible for Michael’s death

Janet Jackson is echoing what many of her family members have said: Dr. Conrad Murray should be held accountable for brother Michael’s death. With the exception of Jack Kevorkian and a few whack jobs, I haven’t really heard anyone say otherwise. It’s shocking to think that a doctor acted with such reckless irresponsibility as Murray did. Janet thinks that Murray shouldn’t be practicing medicine (if nothing else).

Janet Jackson said Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s live-in doctor at the time of his death, is responsible for the demise of her brother, and should no longer be permitted to practice medicine.

“He was the one who was administering,” the Control singer said. “I think he should be responsible.”

Janet said of this past June 25 — the day Michael Jackson died — that she was at her New York home, when an assistant watching CNN informed her that her brother had been hospitalized. She said she then dialed a series of relatives, including mother Katherine, brother Tito, nephew Austin and sister LaToya to confirm the news. “I told them to call me back when they got to the hospital. And I remember thinking, nobody’s calling me back, so I tried calling again and that’s how I found out he was no longer… I couldn’t believe it.

“It just didn’t ring true to me,” she said. “It felt like a dream… its still difficult for me to believe. Its, you know, you have to accept what it is.” She said of Michael that “a day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about him.”

Though he has not been charged, Murray has been in the spotlight since Jackson’s June 25 death, which has been ruled a homicide by authorities. Much of the ensuing controversy has been centered around Propofol, a strong anesthetic Jackson was taking. Murray, through his attorney, has said he didn’t give the Thriller singer anything that “should have” killed him.
What ridiculousness. Murray didn’t give Michael anything that “should have” killed him? Except that it’s easy to fatally overdose on Propofol, which is why it’s illegal to administer it outside a hospital setting.
LaToya Jackson has been Murray’s most vocal adversary. And while she generally comes across as being totally nutburgers, it’s good someone is saying what everyone else is thinking. It seemed likely that Murray would face manslaughter charges in Jackson’s death, however it’s been several months since the coroner ruled Jackson’s death a homicide, and not much has happened. Hopefully that’s because they’re being exhaustive in their investigation of Murray, and not because he’s going to get off the hook. The guy should lose a lot more than his license to practice medicine – he should lose his freedom.

Jon Gosselin is too busy and famous to play with his kids or work a real job

As this law suit drama heats up between TLC and Jon Gosselin, the editing of the “[Jon &] Kate Plus 8″ reality show is taking a decidedly anti-Jon stance. Where once Kate was clearly the show’s villain, now Jon is shown as a mostly absentee dad who is more concerned with his personal life than his kids. It really makes one wonder how much of the show is fact and how much of it is manipulated by show producers. Of course, Jon isn’t doing himself any favors by allowing himself to be videotaped ignoring his kids in favor of talking and texting on two cell phones at once or flirting with photographers who camp out at the edge of the Gosselin’s property. If TLC are the bullies Jon claims they are, why give them ammunition to beat you over the head with?

You’ll see a different side of Jon Gosselin on Monday night’s episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8, and it’s not going to get him nominated for Father of the Year.
In this preview clip Jon is shown ignoring his kids, while texting, talking on the phone and doing what has come to be known as “working the fence.”

Monday night’s show definitely puts the reality in reality TV as Kate comments on Jon’s lack of interaction with the kids, and makes it clear it’s not a one-time thing.
After one clip of Jon blatantly ignoring one of his daughters, Kate says about her soon-to-be-ex: “He is on the phone a lot. I will come home and I’ll say, ‘Did daddy play with you?”

The kids answer her, “no.’ and when she asks them what was Jon doing they respond: “He was on the phone.”

Kate explains that she strongly believes Jon’s calls are personal and she limits her calls around the kids to work only.

Jon is also shown “working the fence” which is when he goes over to talk to photographers and visitors at the fence on his property, often conducting impromptu sessions with the media.
Kate also says in a clip of the upcoming new episode that maybe Jon should have worn an “invisible fence” collar like the family’s former dogs so he would stay home and learn boundaries. Ouch! But Jon doesn’t seem worried. He’s out attending parties with major league baseball players and brokering media deals, and he’s also telling the court in his TLC counter-suit that he is now “too famous” to go out and get a regular job.

While battling TLC in a breach of contract lawsuit, Jon says the reason he can’t simply go out and get a regular job is because he’s too famous!

In an affidavit filed as part of the lawsuit and obtained only by RadarOnline.com, Jon states: “Now, I find myself unemployed and without the ability to secure non-entertainment related engagements because the enormous Media interest, cameras, reporters and public interest makes it impossible to carry on normal daily activities, let alone find, secure and maintain a job with an employer who is willing to be exposed to the daily Media intrusions that has impeded by life.”

Jon also states that TLC staged scenes for Jon & Kate Plus 8. “Plaintiff through its representatives and agents organize activities for me and my children, rehearsed and staged scenes, directed our actions and suggested dialogue, words, responses and conduct,” he wrote in the affidavit, which is working its way through the Montgomery County, MD Circuit Court.

Another headline-worthy charge from Jon is that TLC likes Kate more than it likes him! He states the network enforced the contract, “strictly and harshly towards me, while leniently, if at all, applying them towards my wife. The Plaintiff has promoted and even facilitated opportunities and appearances for my wife, yet attempts to restrain and enjoin me from making a living for my family.”

Jon forced the show into hiatus when he denied TLC permission to film his kids, saying the show was harmful to them. This reversed his earlier position that the show was great for the kids!
It’s interesting that Jon complains about the media intruding on his life, but yet he doesn’t seem to have a problem sleeping with a tabloid reporter or “working the fence” when it benefits him. I’m sure he could find a “regular” job if he wanted to, even in this bad economy. As for his fame: there are plenty of people out there who have no idea who he is. Of course, knowing Jon, he’d have to remind his unlucky cubicle-mates who he is every five seconds!

Eva Longoria Parker Named Philanthropist Of The Year

The Hollywood Reporter is honoring 'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria Parker this evening by naming her Philanthropist of the Year. They will hold a private reception in her honor.

I've never met a more conscientious and socially aware young, energetic talent," THR publisher Eric Mika said. "Eva's efforts on behalf of the causes near and dear to her are Herculean. She pours her free time and energy into raising millions of dollars for charitable missions that make a difference in the Latino community and other humanitarian organizations.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eva is the national spokesperson for Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), a nonprofit organization for latino children diagnosed with cancer and their families. Eva also founded the organization Eva's Heroes in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, which provides an after-school program that includes children with developmental disabilities.
It's great to see a celebrity give back to the community. Congratulations, Eva!

Paris Hilton Jealous Of Kim Kardashian’s Fame?

Paris Hilton and the Kardashian sisters used to be really chummy-chummy until Kim and company got a little more famous. Now, Paris know she barely registers a blip, while the Kardashians are invading every magazine cover and raking in the dough.

The Kardashians actually got into the spotlight as a hanger-on to Paris, but now they’ve taken over, and Paris is fuming. She’s said to be hatching a plan to boost her brand with her new beauty line and to make herself “more likable by playing down her lavish lifestyle.”

A source said that Paris so ticked off that Kim got her start hanging out with her, and now everyone and their mother are paying them for appearance fees and the whole shebang.

Of Paris, the snitch said, “She used to command $100,000 for club appearances, but now Kim is the hottest girl - and they aren’t friends anymore. The magazines are bidding around $300,000 for Kourtney’s baby shower and baby pictures. And Khloe’s wedding brought in record ratings for E!”
Something clicked in Paris’ little head and she’s just realized that we’re in a recession. She figures that excess in a recession doesn’t appeal to the masses.

To get her way, she may even marry Doug Reinhardt so that she comes across as more mature.

Taylor Swift Likes the Single Life

It’s the next best thing to having Taylor Swift show up in the flesh in your living room – the country singer in 3-D on the cover of InStyle magazine’s December issue, out Nov. 20.

But the special effects and fashion-magazine first is beside the point for fans who want to learn more about her rumored romance with Taylor Lautner, he costar in the upcoming movie Valentine’s Day.
“He and I have gotten really close,” she says. “It would be confusing on the set with two Taylors in the same scene. They were like, ‘Taylor, on your mark – no, not you, the other one!’ So halfway through the shoot, I said, ‘How about you guys call me Swifty and call him Taylor?’ “

Yet, at the same time, she seems to deflate the rumors.

“I’ve never thought it was a curse to be single, and at this point in my life, I’m in the mind-set where I choose to be single –] like I got to light scented candles and write in my diary and I wouldn’t have time for that if I had a boyfriend right now!”

As for Lautner, he enjoyed portraying her wanna-be boyfriend on the silver screen – if that’s all it was.
“Taylor is hilarious,” he says.

“It was definitely not hard to play her love interest.”

Shaquille O’Neal’s wife of seven years has filed for legal separation

Shaquille O’Neal filed for divorce in 2007, but it is assumed because there is a prenuptial agreement the couple decided to remain together.  Recently his wife, Va’Shaundya O’Neal filed for a legal separation based on  irreconcilable differences as grounds for the split.  She is seeking spousal support for Shaunie O’Neal and custody of the couple’s four children, who range in age from three to nine years-old.

Her petition mentions she intends to amend her filing to seek a divorce.  It is assumed she needs more time before actually filing for a divorce or just maybe she wants to get the right attorney to make sure she gets enough financial support, because a prenuptial agreement is a very serious document.

Celebrity news website TMZ.com revealed the  Shaquille and his family had been living in Florida. However, Va’Shuandya recently pulled the children out of school relocated with them back to Los Angeles, hoping she would have a better chance of child and spousal support.

When a man like Shaquille O’Neal has a prenuptial agreement, it would be smart for a wife to start up some sort of a business, so in case anything like this should occur,  there would be no hesitation to divorce.  There are many wives who are married to wealthy men, but not wealthy themselves.
Wives who are rich are those who are wise to have their own money, although their rich husbands seem generous while they are together.  Time and time again, for many years, we have seen celebrity wives left with barely enough to survive, especially if it was not for their child support.  The only celebrity wife was the ex-wife of Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons who has her own empire, Baby Phat clothing line, perfume and although it was cancelled, she had her own reality show, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane”.

Although, Kimora Lee Simmons was said to disrespect and bully the executive staff of the television network and lost the show, she still had her own show, one of her income streams.  If you ever are blessed to marry a rich man, be smart and start your own thing, because the average millionaire or billionaire most likely will have a prenuptial agreement and you may not be left with only a very small percentage of his wealth.

Hayden Panettiere Debuts Bangs & Saves Whales

Heroes star and ardent animal rights activist, Hayden Panettiere looked even more energetic than usual on the red carpet at The Whaleman Foundation in Hollywood, which she hosted. The 20-year-old actress was probably excited to show off her new hairstyle, which included a darker shade of blonde and some new bangs.

Supporting his big sis, Jansen Panettiere, was also at the event with a very blond, very tan young friend. Additionally, Hayden's Heroes co-star, Jimmy Jean-Louis, was there to lend his the on-screen cheerleader and the organization itself.

But don't be fooled by Hayden looking all glam on the red carpet for the event. She's got no problem putting on a wet suit and paddling out into the thick of things, if the situation calls for it.

LiLo’s Line: DISASTER…

Unfortunately, talent has no say in many of the ventures that celebrities put themselves into. Case in point, Lindsay Lohan. Granted, she’s a stylist pop-tart. However that’s doesn’t mean she has the talent or mind to be handed her own fashion line. All she possesses is the means and marketability (if that) to sell a product.
The famed fashion designer & founder, Emmanuel Ungaro had this to say about LiLo’s feeble attempt to make it in the world of fashion: “[Her] collaboration was a disaster,” Emanuel told the U.K.’s Independentof Lindsay’s first efforts as artistic adviser alongside designer Estrella Archs. “I am furious but I can’t do anything about it.”

Rainbow Babies Inc.

World Advocate and hot mama, Angelina Jolie is itching for another baby, only this time from Syria. However, honorary baby-daddy, Brad Pitt has made it clear that 6 kids are enough for him.
Let’s see we have Maddox, Pax and Zahara who have all been adopted from the ends of the earth. And all share the Jolie-Pitt name. Then, there’s their biological babies: Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.
They can adopt me!! Stay tuned…

Amy Wino Hospitalized For Medication Cocktail

Trying to make you go where? Rehab? You? Never.
So after a fun-filled evening of displaying new tits at London’s SoHo House, Miss Wino found herself in a hospital bed.
I guess Wino didn’t get the memo about mixing NyQuil, cocaine and buttery nipple shots. “Amy took over-the-counter stuff for a cold but it didn’t agree with medication she takes for her on-going recovery,” said a friend. “A doctor came to the house and advised her to go the hospital to make sure she was all right.”

Shayne Lamas Gets DUI

DUIs are great for ratings -- so what better way to help your reality show then to go get one ... and then blab all about it to the network that airs your show?

Shayne Lamas
was popped in Venice, Calif. last night for allegedly driving under the influence -- and we know this because she told E!, home of "Leave it to Lamas," the whole story.

In a shockingly well-worded statement, Lamas told E!, "Early Saturday morning, after consuming one drink, I willingly drove through a mandatory check point on my way home with complete confidence of passing. However, the breathalyzer indicated that I was over the legal limit of blood alcohol content and was arrested onsite."

Look for a very special episode of "Leave it to Lamas" sometime during the next sweeps period.

Cindy Crawford, Husband Targeted in Extortion Plot

Cindy Crawford and her entrepreneur husband Rande Gerber were the victims of a $100,000 extortion scheme involving a photograph of their 7-year-old daughter purportedly taken by the couple’s former nanny, according to court papers filed Thursday by the FBI and the U.S. attorney’s office.

The photo shows the child “in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged,” say the documents filed in U.S. District Court, reports Los Angeles TV station KTLA.
According to an affidavit in the case, the child informed the Gerbers that the nanny took the photo as part of a “cops and robbers” game. Annett Wolf, a rep for the former supermodel, issued a statement saying the photo was taken without Crawford’s knowledge.

An acquaintance of the nanny reportedly threatened to sell the photo. He has been identified as Edis Kayalar, 26, a recent deportee to Germany now believed to be in Stuttgart, according to officials. Authorities say that even after his deportation Kayalar continued to demand $100,000 – or he would release the photo to the media.
He has been charged with one count of extortion. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to two years. The nanny, who has not been named, has not been charged.

Wolf’s statement also said, “Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.”
Crawford, 43, and Gerber, 47, have been married since 1998. Besides their daughter, who is now 8, they also have a son, 10.
